In our Meet the Scouts series, we get to know the people who make the Scout magic possible. This week, we’re featuring Roxanna Farshchi, Solutions Engineer!
Before Roxanna even applied for the role of Solutions Engineer at Scout, she already knew Scout’s product inside and out. Prior to joining Scout, Roxanna worked in sales at another software company and used Scout’s sourcing and supplier engagement platform on a daily basis to respond to RFPs.
Her experience with Scout inspired her to apply as the company’s first Solutions Engineer. She contributed value immediately, jumping on sales calls and conducting live demos, and she recently won the highly coveted employee peer recognition award, affectionately known as “Top Turtle,” for Q1.
Now, after nearly a year at Scout, she’s ready to grow her team, especially in San Francisco and Chicago. Read on to find out how she anticipates her team to expand and what she thinks is the most unique aspect of Scout.
Meet Roxanna Farschi, Solutions Engineer
Why did you join Scout?
In my prior role, I was actually a supplier responding to RFPs through Scout’s platform. The process was so easy and I was so passionate about the product that I decided to apply for a full-time position at Scout.
Did anything surprise you about Scout once you were working here?
I definitely wasn’t surprised about how welcoming everyone was because I felt it during my interviews. The onboarding process really stood out to me though. It was so smooth and helped me get ramped quickly.
How would you describe the environment at Scout?
Scout is full of really smart people that work super hard but are also still so kind to each other. Everyone is energized by our customers and has an absolute passion for the product.
What are the biggest challenges of your role?
Being the first Solutions Engineer hire at Scout was definitely a challenge. It was difficult to define the role at first, but I’m really excited that we’ve just hired another Solutions Engineer and have more roles open! The team is expanding and growing stronger.
What makes a person successful in your position?
It’s so important to be able to work with every department, and I always say you get the best part of every job as a Solutions Engineer. You need to be available and helpful for each group to tie in the value of the product in all walks of the organization.
Can you describe the advancement opportunities on your team?
You can absolutely advance up in our specific team, but you can also discover if you want to experience a different department since you also work with every other team – especially sales and product.
How do you see the market opportunity for Scout’s product?
I think Scout’s biggest value is the ease of use and high adoption, and I always see it through customers’ proof of concepts when I’m going on site. I actually heard from a consulting firm recently that we are the only e-sourcing solution out there that is very much focused on the end users’ experience.
What do you think makes us stand out from the rest in terms of places to work?
Scout is invested in its employees and genuinely wants them to be successful. If you work hard and do your best, the rest of the team will work with you to set you up for success.
What else should interested candidates know about Scout?
Scout’s core values are extremely important to the company and they’re always reinforced verbally and with posters on the wall. People strive for to hold up these values every day and it helps with camaraderie in the office.
