Nothing but Net at Spark 2020: Keynote Speaker Announcement

We know what you’re thinking. How could there possibly be a connection between basketball and sourcing? Glad you asked! Both require collaboration, dedication, and constant practice. But most importantly, both sourcing and basketball depend on an incredible team in order to succeed. And who better to talk about assembling a crack team of all-star players than our amazing SPARK 2020 keynote speaker, Bob Myers?

From UCLA Walk-On to Warriors GM

Bob’s now-legendary career in basketball had humble beginnings. In fact, it almost didn’t begin at all. Before setting foot on the UCLA campus, Bob thought he would leave his love of basketball behind in Danville’s Monte Vista High School gymnasium. After a visit to the Los Angeles campus, though, and a little convincing from UCLA assistant coach Steve Lavin, Bob tried out for the  team as a walk-on and made it. That same season, the Bruins won the national championship. Over the next 4 years, Bob worked relentlessly to excel in both athletics and academics, earning a basketball scholarship a starting player and going on to complete his law degree at Loyola Law School.

It is this steadfast work ethic and dedication to success that propelled him to his current role: President of Basketball Operations and General Manager of the Bay Area’s very own Golden State Warriors (go Dubs!). As the wizard behind the Warrior’s player roster, Bob has helped lead the team to 3 NBA titles in the last 4 seasons (2015, 2017, and 2018). He is the first executive in Warriors history to be named NBA Executive of the Year, and (in case that weren’t enough) he’s earned the title twice in only 3 seasons. Before joining the Warriors, Bob spent 14 years as a top NBA agent, negotiating over $575 million in player contracts

Beyond Basketball: Leadership On and Off the Court

As an accomplished leader, Bob is an expert at tapping into the social savvy that sourcing and procurement professionals must exercise every day to manage relationships with their stakeholders and suppliers. At SPARK, Bob will share his experience of building a winning team while navigating high-stakes negotiations, aligning astronomical expectations, and ultimately driving unprecedented success.

We are beyond thrilled that Bob will be joining us at SPARK 2020, February 24-25th, and we can’t wait to learn more about his journey with the Warriors. Whether or not you’re a member of Dub Nation, you do not want to miss your chance to hear from this legendary leader!

Catch Bob at SPARK 2020!

Register now and discover how you too can build an all-star team, practice collaborative decision-making, and position your organization as a key player in your business.
