SPARK 2020: Where Will Your Sourcing Journey Lead?

We can’t thank you enough for making SPARK 2020 our best (and biggest) conference yet! From attending incredible keynotes, to hearing insightful customer stories, to networking at our demo bar, we hope you left Pier 27 inspired to take new ideas back with you and make waves in your own organizations.

SPARK 2020 was centered around one vision: equipping its 700+ attendees with the knowledge and tools to take their sourcing journeys further than ever imagined. That’s why we invited speakers like best-selling author Safi Bahcall, industry expert Dr. Elouise Epstein of A.T. Kearney, and Co-Founder and CEO of Workday, Aneel Bhusri to share their innovative ideas. We also heard Scout customers including JetBlue, Salesforce, Uber, S&P Global, Unum, and so many more share their unique experiences with our platform.

Let’s look back on the top 5 destinations of SPARK 2020. (Don’t miss Diginomica’s coverage of the event, too!)

Destination #1: Golden Gate Stage with Bob Myers of the Golden State Warriors

It was standing-room-only for GSW General Manager and legend, Bob Myers. During his keynote, Bob highlighted humility and teamwork as the keys to success in any organization–be it a professional sports team or a sourcing org! Bob emphasized that everything stems from culture and leaders must set good examples for their employees. His advice? Own the good times and the bad, remain poised in the face of adversity, and give credit where credit is due.

It can be easy to get lost in the promises that the term “digital transformation” brings, but Bob Myers reminded us that if we don’t establish a culture of respect and humility first, our efforts to transform–digitally or otherwise–will not succeed. Huge thanks to Bob for sharing his experiences throughout his career and with the Warriors. Go Dubs!

Destination #2: Customer Deep Dives at the Treasure Island Stage

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again (and again and again): we’re utterly obsessed over our customers. They are the heart and soul of SPARK, and we wanted to highlight their creative and innovative ways of using the Scout Platform to source better and faster. This year, SPARK welcomed customers like LogMeIn, bluebird bio, GIA, and so many more to the stage to share their pro tips for getting the most out of the Scout platform. Thank you to all of our customer speakers for sharing your wisdom!

Destination #3: SPARK’s Networking Cabana

One of the biggest points of feedback we received from SPARK 2019 was that attendees loved being able to reconnect, meet, and learn with one another. With that in mind, we dedicated an entire Networking Cabana to fostering deeper and wider bonds in the procurement community. It was inspiring to see so many new connections forming throughout the conference. It’s our hope that as you continue your sourcing journey, you’ll be able to take ideas from your “piers” (to steal a line from Alex and Stan’s keynote) and apply them to your own organizations.  Looking to continue the conversation? Join one of our Sourcing Leaders Groups on LinkedIn and keep an eye out for quarterly events in San Francisco, New York City, and Chicago.

Destination #4: SPARK’s Demo Bar

There was a constant buzz around the Scout demo bar as SPARK attendees and Scouts connected over the product. There’s nothing we love more than incorporating customer feedback into our platform for an even better user experience. We had a blast meeting everyone and hearing what you all are looking for in your sourcing tools, and we can’t wait to put your feedback into action. Looking to leave a comment about SPARK 2020? Destination #5: Sourcing Club at the Lido Deck

SPARK 2020 would not be complete without an amazing Sourcing Reception! Attendees gathered in the Lido Deck to enjoy whiskey tasting, Rocco’s Ice Cream Tacos, and of course, the custom ice luge! Sourcing club was a great way for all of us to let our hair down and just plain have fun! Amidst the delicious appetizers and donut wall, SPARK guests also loved snapping selfies at the photo booth and basking in the unseasonably warm San Francisco evening.

At Scout, SPARK 2020 absolutely shattered our expectations. With over 700 attendees and 20+ hours of content, SPARK 2020 nearly doubled from SPARK 2019. We truly could not have done any of this without the greater sourcing and procurement community and are grateful for your continuous support.

The sourcing journey doesn’t end here! SPARK 2020 was just the beginning, and we are more committed than ever to partnering with you to take your sourcing further than ever. If you couldn’t make it to SPARK 2020 or you’re looking for more opportunities to expand your knowledge, register now for the upcoming webinar with Dr. Elouise Epstein of A.T. Kearney. On Thursday, March 12, she will examine how legacy systems are hindering Sourcing’s ability to get ahead of the competition and why there’s never been a better time for digital transformation.
